Pilate's Pitfalls cont.
3. He feared Caesar more than he feared Christ.
John 19:12 From then on Pilate sought to release Him, but the Jews cried out, saying, “If you let this Man go, you are not Caesar’s friend. Whoever makes himself a king speaks against Caesar.”
4. He was more concerned about his comfort than his conviction.
John 19:16 Then he delivered Him to them to be crucified. So they took Jesus and led Him away.
Matthew 27:24-25 When Pilate saw that he could not prevail at all, but rather that a tumult was rising, he took water and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, “I am innocent of the blood of this just Person. You see to it.” 25 And all the people answered and said, “His blood be on us and on our children.”
Do you fear your boss more than you do God? How about your co-workers? What keeps you from doing what you know is right in the sight of the Lord? Do you live in fear of what you might lose? That is not the life God has called you to and it will not produce the fruit He desires. You have to neglect what people think about you and do the right thing for Jesus Christ. Put all your trust in Him. Cast all your concerns on Him. Stop worrying about what might happen and focus on what is happening right now through the Word of God in your life, through the presence of the Holy Spirit in your life and the godly counsel He has established in your life. In the last scripture the people wanted what they wanted so desperately that they ask for the blood of Jesus Christ to be on their hands and their children's hand. We may look at that and say that is crazy, what a crazy statement. Evaluate your own steps what is present in your life that is a direct result of you refusing to do what God says do? What is absent in your life, yet God is telling you get in gear. Walk in tune with Him today.
