Last night I gave my testimony at men's Bible Study. One very important part of my testimony is the song I want To Be Just Like You. God used this song very powerfully in calling me to salvation. The lyrics are powerful.
I Want To Be Just Like YOU
He climbs in my lap for a goodnight hug
He calls me Dad and I call him Bub
With his faded old pillow and a bear named Pooh
He snuggles up close and says, "I want to be like you"
I tuck him in bed and I kiss him goodnight
Trippin' over the toys as I turn out the light
And I whisper a prayer that someday he'll see
He's got a father in God 'cause he's seen Jesus in me
Lord, I want to be just like You
'Cause he wants to be just like me
I want to be a holy example
For his innocent eyes to see
Help me be a living Bible, Lord
That my little boy can read
I want to be just like You
'Cause he wants to be like me
Got to admit I've got so far to go
Make so many mistakes and I'm sure that You know
Sometimes it seems no matter how hard I try
With all the pressures in life I just can't get it all right
But I'm trying so hard to learn from the best
Being patient and kind, filled with Your tenderness
'Cause I know that he'll learn from the things that he sees
And the Jesus he finds will be the Jesus in me
Right now from where he stands I may seem mighty tall
But it's only 'cause I'm learning from the best Father of them all
I want to be a Holy example for his innocent eyes to see. When I hear this song it just overwhelms me. I have to ask the question am I the Holy example for the innocent eyes that see. My children are at an age now where I would not call them innocent 21, 19 and 14; they know Jesus, they follow Him and He is their Lord and He reigns mightily in their life. However, I am so thankful that Jesus grabbed the heart of this wretched soul, transformed it into a heart that seeks Him and loves Him and follows Him right before their eyes. May I be, each and every day the Holy example for their maturing eyes to see. Help me be a living Bible, Lord, man what a powerful statement. Let me be a living Bible. Think about this, a living Bible, let me walk in a manner that as my life is examined people will see the Word of God come alive. Now that is a testimony, if my life and your life can be classified as the Bible at work. I ask you this question Do you desire this for your testimony? Are you in a place where you can say I hope and pray that my children do everything I am doing as hard as they can with everything in them? Evaluate everything you do today, better yet evaluate everything you do this Friday and Saturday and tell me if you think it shouts to your children do this and do it well and you will walk in a manner worthy of the Kingdom of God.
I know you were supposed to get a blog today teaching about the Church of Ephesus. It is coming, I just thought I would share a little of me!
