Joshua 1:8-10
8 This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” 10 Then Joshua commanded the officers of the people, saying,11 “Pass through the camp and command the people, saying, ‘Prepare provisions for yourselves, for within three days you will cross over this Jordan, to go in to possess the land which the Lord your God is giving you to possess.’”

We have looked at why we are to be strong and courageous. First. it is a command of God. It is not optional, it is an absolute, but like all things with Jesus, He empowers our courage, we do not have to depend on ourselves. We can be strong and courageous because of verse 8, the Word of God. We shall not let the Word of God depart from our mouth. We must meditate on it day and night and we must observe all that is written in it. When these things happen, then God will make our way prosperous, and we will have success, not just success, but the scripture says good success. Now following the command to be strong and courageous Joshua tells the people in verse 10 to prepare provisions for themselves because they are about to possess the land which the Lord is giving them. This is powerful, God says make provisions for yourself, I am about to do something great and mighty in and through your life. You be prepared, you get ready, you step out in faith and obedience and while you are stepping you be strong, you be courageous because of who I am and not because of who your are. You see that is what we will get when we stay in the scripture. It is all about who Jesus is. The scripture empowers us to be strong and courageous because we will meditate day and night on who Jesus is. We will learn who and what He is doing. We will learn His love and His power. Then we will be strong and courageous, ready for the challenges of this world, ready to inherit what He has prepared for us. Think about, Jesus has an inheritance for you, He has a promised land waiting for you make provisions today. Walk strong today. Live today!
