Matthew 4:1
1Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.
2 And when He had fasted forty days and forty nights, afterward He was hungry.
3 Now when the tempter came to Him, he said, “If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.”
4 But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’”
5 Then the devil took Him up into the holy city, set Him on the pinnacle of the temple,
6 and said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down. For it is written:
‘He shall give His angels charge over you,’ and,
‘In their hands they shall bear you up,
Lest you dash your foot against a stone.’”
7 Jesus said to him, “It is written again, ‘You shall not tempt the Lord your God.’”
8 Again, the devil took Him up on an exceedingly high mountain, and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory.
9 And he said to Him, “All these things I will give You if You will fall down and worship me.”
10 Then Jesus said to him, “Away with you, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve.’”
11 Then the devil left Him, and behold, angels came and ministered to Him.

When Satan tempted Jesus we see a truth explode in the scripture regarding the alignment of the scripture and the necessary requirement that all the scripture must be considered when studying the Word. Pulling the scripture out in just the right way to fit perfectly into our circumstance is reflective not of Christ, but of evil. Additionally, we see the danger of only knowing partial information, it can be disastrous. satan tempted Jesus first with the urge need to establish himself. It happens a great deal to us we need to establish who we are we need to stake claim to our turf, we need control so we shout from the roof tops who we are and what we are about. We self proclaim to the world who we are. satan thought he would take swing at Jesus with, "if you really are who you say you are." Now satan did not simply come out swinging all out of control. Instead he went about things strategically. he used a precise area in the life of Jesus to attack. Jesus had fasted for 40 days He was hungry. Many of us struggle to fast 4o minute much less 40 days. Jesus turning the stones into bread, would have been convenient and would have fed him immediately. However it would not have been what the Father was doing. He could have shut satan up and fed himself all at the same time, but that was not the plan. When we are faced with establishing who we are we need to make sure we are not doing the establishing Jesus can and will do this. As stated earlier I have been guilty of this; however. I have grown to realize that it is Christ Jesus who establishes me and He puts me in the places of authority and he delivers me. He will removes obstacles in my life and will not let anyone or anything interfere with the work He is doing. Therefore, i don't have to concern myself with establishing myself. Nor do you. Jesus will take care of that, we must simply stay in tune with him. Don't scream you are a christian, live you are a christian. Don't scream you are a child of Jesus, live you are a child of Jesus, not in some ways in every way. Don't scream you are a leader, just go lead and if things get in your way know that Jesus is there and He will move mountains those obstacles will not remain. Arm yourself with the scripture and pray the scripture to Jesus and let Jesus deliver you. Jesus spoke the scripture to satan and he quoted it accurately. You have  to know the scripture preciously. Little changes make a big difference, after all it was God who said of the in Genesis 2:16-17, "And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, “Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; 17 but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.”
