The question King Nebuchadnezzar (aka King Neb 😊) asked was, "And who is the god who will deliver you from my hands?" King Neb knew the answer to this question. In Daniel 2:47 after interpreting the King's dream, he said "Truly your God is the God of gods, the Lord of Kings, and a revealer of secrets." But he still worshiped himself and "his gods."
So Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, responded to his question saying, we don't even need to answer you in this matter. We don't even need to respond by worshipping your idols. (They had already purposed this in their hearts.) They knew that King Neb knew the answer to the question. They knew there was no use arguing with him. And they knew that their God would prevail. But they responded anyway to make a statement.
They said, with confidence, "our God whom we serve IS ABLE TO deliver us from the fiery furnace, and HE WILL deliver us from your hand." They knew with confidence that God was able to do more than they could ask or imagine (Eph 3:20-21). They knew too that God would deliver them from his hand whether it was through death or through the fire. Either way they were making a statement.
"But if not, let it be known to you, O King, that we do not serve your gods, nor will we worship the gold image which you have setup."
I think they knew that God may not save them from the fire in order to validate this stand. But they were ok with that. They had already purposed in their hearts that they weren't serving any other gods. Life or death.
What gods are you serving? Think of this in context of where you spend your time and thoughts. Is it in the Word? Is it meditating on things that are true, good, and righteous? Have you purposed in your heart all gods whom you will not serve? That way when the fire comes, you will not be afraid and can stand firm. Are you making a statement with your life that could turn the world upside down? Will you jump on Satan's train of negative thinking, bad attitudes, or unrighteousness meditation?
Stand firm. Period. KNOW who your God is. He WILL deliver you. Even if it's not the way you expect.
I hope you have a good day, and I love you! 💜
