I want you to think about the temptations that you face. Temptations are things that come our way to prove our faith, fidelity and integrity. If you are not being tempted, I am scared for you because the devil already has you.😳 Think about those things that you can't seem to conquer in your weakness.
Let's look at this scene from the garden:
These men were weak in their sorrow. But Jesus was sorrowful too. He even told them and displayed signs of distress. His command was to watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. We have to watch and pray about the temptations that will come before us. We have to plan ahead for situations that we know will be tough. Jesus didn't say pray and sleep, lest you enter into temptation. But how often do we do this? Our spirit is willing to overcome, but we let the flesh weaken us. We just pray about the temptation, and hope we make the right decision the next time or when we are forced to deal with it.
If we look ahead to situations where we think we may fail or we know we will have to make a decision for a stand, we can watch and purpose in our heart the decision we are going to make. We can purpose to stay awake and watch and pray in that moment. We can purpose to keep our mouth closed the next time that person is rude to us. We can purpose to keep our mouth closed when it's easier to complain. We can purpose not to take part in activities or talk that aren't edifying to the kingdom. We can purpose to read our Bible instead of going to sleep or watching tv. What are you proving your faith, fidelity, and integrity too?
See Daniel knew the command and the law long before he had to make the decision to stand his ground in front of the King. He purposes in his heart that in situations where he might be asked to compromise on his beliefs about unclean food that he will not. He will not eat of this food that was against God's law.
Keep this in mind:
There are only two tables. You are either eating at one or the other.
We have to purpose our reactions to situations, and PRAY PRAY PRAY. What does it say in the Lord's Prayer? Lead me not into temptation, and deliver me from evil. There is a reason that line is in there!
Go ahead and purpose in your heart the decisions you will make when you face THAT temptation. The one that keeps lurking and defeating you. Decide today how you will respond.
I hope you have a good day, and I love you! 💜
